Converting Documents to Hypertext

Choose an appropriate tool to process your information

Boeing paper-based documents have been created by a variety of tools such as:

• Word
• FrameMaker
• Interleaf

All these products can create HTML pages but some produce more hypertext-friendly results than others do. I found FrameMaker to be the best solution for my document needs because it produced PDF files (with hotlinks) and web pages from a single source. This allowed my customers to print their documents (from the PDF files) in a paper-friendly format yet when they looked at the document online, they were able to use the power of hyperlinks. I was able to use conditional text to vary the web and PDF formats while only having one source file.
